How to Use
1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click the extension icon to open settings.
3. Add countries to block or allow.
4. Optionally, add specific domains to your custom whitelist or blacklist.
5. Reload your Google search page.
Common Issues & Fixes
1. GeoBlock isn’t filtering results as expected
Make sure your extension is enabled for www.google.com.
2. I don’t see any filter controls
Click the GeoBlock icon in your extensions bar to open the control panel. If you don’t see it, pin it from the Extensions menu.
3. My settings are gone after restarting Chrome
Ensure you have not cleared your browser data. GeoBlock uses Chrome’s local storage to persist your settings.
Known Limitations
1. Only works on Google Search and Google Images results pages.
Privacy Policy
GeoBlock is a browser extension that filters Google Search results by country of origin. This policy explains exactly what data is processed and where it goes. GeoBlock stores the following locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage: your settings (enabled/disabled state, blocked countries, filter strength, whitelist, and blacklist), aggregate filter statistics (count of results blocked by country and domain), and a geo-IP cache described below. None of this data ever leaves your device, except as described below.If you enable the optional "Geo-IP Detection" setting, GeoBlock sends domain names (e.g. example.com) to ip-api.com to determine their country of origin. This feature is disabled by default. When enabled, only the domain name is sent — no URLs, search queries, or personal identifiers. Results are cached locally for 24 hours to minimise requests. ip-api.com's own privacy policy applies to those requests. GeoBlock does not collect browsing history, search queries, IP addresses, or personal identifiers of any kind. There is no analytics or telemetry. The extension includes a voluntary donation link to Stripe, which opens Stripe's website in a new tab. GeoBlock transmits no data to Stripe.
